Rail Baltic Business Network organized an international conference “Business Case: Rail Baltic” which took place on October 13 in Tallinn.
Kristen Michal, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure of Estonia gave a keynote introduction to the conference. Henrik Hololei, the director General for Mobility and Transport( dG-MoVE) at European Commission gave a presentation on the importance of Rail Baltic for Europe. Baiba Rubesa, CEO of RB Rail Ltd. had a presentation about„Rail Baltic: Project of the Century for the Baltic States“.
Other sessions featured Kim Smedegaard Andersen, Vice Technical director of Sund & Bælt A/S, who told the story of the Øresund bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark and the story of the Fermern tunnel. Tiina Haapsalo, the chief policy adviser on transport and infrastructure at the Confederation of Finnish Industries, discussed the Finnish views on Rail Baltic project and Nauris Klava, head of the pan-Baltic advisory services at Ernst &Young, introduced the ongoing research on economic viability of Rail Baltic.
The conference was held in English and was moderated by Neeme Raud, journalist of the Estonian public Broadcasting.
